Artistic Approach

Kunal-Soni

An artist artwork is often subjected to two primary influences, firstly it is the outside world and the artist perspective of the nature, and the socio-political circumstances subjected to his keen observations are portrayed through his paintings. But often one fails to read that many of the artworks go beyond these worldly realms and artist through his art is trying to give us a deeper insight into his inner mind, or subconscious mind. Psychoanalysts, define the inner world by two fundamentals ideas they argue that our inner world or mental life is not the same as our conscious life; Thus, establishing them as two individual entities. It further links our consciousness, with its faculties of reason and imagination, thinking and wondering. While stating the importance of unconscious they state that, unconsciousness play an important role in expressing or resurfacing the repressed desires and memories of our childhood which are often expresses through slips of tongue, dreams, etc this is also true of more elevated experiences, such as art.

Viennese doctor, Sigmund Freud defines Art is a form of Sublimation. Freud uses this term to refer to an impulse which is detached from its sexual origin and transformed into something emotionally and intellectually acceptable and productive. As we glimpse in the series of Digital paintings of Artist Kunal Soni.

“I have expressed my memories of childhood and my dreams with political and social issues. In a different world in which I usually go, whatever the things are visualized or happened there, they all are extraordinary and different. And they compelled me to think that “what is happening? Why it’s happening? even I don’t have an answer for it. Whatever unfolds during this moment stirs my soul, and compelling me to bring the scene to life as a digital painting through my artistic expression.”
